Greetings teachers, parents and wizards! We hope you're having a wonderful summer. We just wanted to let you know that while you're enjoying your summer vacation we're hard at work bringing new features and updates to Prodigy for you! So, without further ado, let's talk about what we're bringing out for you this week!
Assignments have been integrated into the planner calendar feature. While previously you had to create and edit plans and assignments in two different sections of the website, you'll now find you're on the same page when you select the "assignments" or "planner" buttons from your sidebar menu.
This integration allows you to create both a plan and an assignment from the same page and view any existing plans and assignments in your calendar view.
In this view, plans will be displayed as their normal blue colouring and assignments will appear as purple in your calendar.
Overlapping assignments and plans can stack but will keep the same priority order as previously.
Meaning, assignments take precedence over all other material and will be provided in the order they were created and plans will be the first thing encountered by your students or children once their assignments are complete. This should make planning for the upcoming week much easier to manage!
Recognizing that things are always fluid in the classroom and at home, we're really excited to bring an addtional change to assignments that our users have been requesting for some time: editing assignments!
Assignments are now fully customizable after the point of creation. Meaning that you can now edit:
- Start and end dates
- Content within an assignment
- Students the assignment is provided to
To edit an assignment, go to your calendar view, click on the assignment that you'd like to edit, and select the "edit" option from the menu that appears.
To view your assignment report select the assignment in your calendar and select "view report".
Check out the new assignments page to create and edit some assignments!
New Curriculum Report:
Last but certainly not least we continue to work to improve our reporting tools to keep you parents and teachers in the loop about your students' progress. This week we've released the newly re-worked "Curriculum" report.
You'll notice this report shares some similarities with our popular "Topic Overview" report.
Organized by grade, the report breaks down content into respective curriculum expectation areas or strands for your selected curriculum each accompanied by a convenient meter on the left side to give you a view of your class' progress at a glance.
This bar is colour coded to show you how your students or children are doing. If no work has been done on the skill then the bar appears blank, see teal and it means some or all of your students have mastered the skill. If you see red and the yellow warning sign it means that some or all of your students are struggling with the skill, highlighting a need for some intervention.
You can view an individual student's performance by hovering over their name to view questions answered correctly, incorrectly and their overall percentage.
We sure hope you like the changes that we've made! As always our team is hard at work to make Prodigy more exciting and engaging all the time.
