FAQ: End of support for Internet Explorer 11 (IE11)

As of October 1, 2017, Prodigy will no longer be officially supporting Internet Explorer 11 (or previous versions of the browser). 

Here are some answers to questions you may have about this decision: 


Microsoft, the makers of the Internet Explorer, are actively working to migrate users to their new browser "edge". As a result, IE11 and previous versions of the browser, have not continued to receive the support required to keep pace with the development of newer web technologies. 

In keeping with this, Prodigy's continued support of this browser has already begun to limit the quality of the experience we can create for our users. 

As we do not expect IE11 to improve in the future, we have made the conscious decision to refrain from developing to support this browser as of October 1, 2017. This enables us to ensure that we can continue to provide our users with an experience that includes the best the web has to offer now and in the future. 

How will this impact me if I continue to use IE11? 

While we recommend moving to a supported platform as soon as possible, the following are the implications of continued use of Internet Explorer 11 (or earlier versions) to access Prodigy after October 1, 2017: 

  • The majority of the website/game will continue to remain accessible, however, over time you may begin to notice bugs or less than optimal functionality. 
  • Prodigy will no longer be testing for or resolving bugs experienced as a result of continued use of the browser.
  • For bugs or technical issues reported to our support team related to this browser, users will be directed to make use of an alternate, supported browser. 

What browsers can I use that are supported? 

Prodigy works to ensure that our website/game is accessible on a wide variety of platforms, devices and browsers to ensure that our users are able to access the site in a fashion that suits them. 

This includes quite a few, free to download/use, browsers that are readily available to users with internet enabled devices. While we strongly recommend making use of Google's Chrome browser, please see our article on supported platforms to review which options for access are available to you.
